Our story

A corner café, baked from scratch.

Bread first, then coffee, then the people who made this little room feel like theirs.

Illustration of sourdough loaves and buns cooling on a rack by a window, with steam rising.

How it began

It started with one loaf.

Hearth & Grain began as a folding table at the Saturday market and a sourdough starter that refused to die. The queue grew, the loaves sold out earlier every week, and eventually there was only one sensible thing to do: find an oven of our own.

The corner shop by the park had been empty for a year. We kept the old tiled floor, built a long counter and lit the oven for the first time on a cold Tuesday in March.

Hearth & Grain, its people and its history are fictional, written for this website design concept.

What we care about

How we do things.

Nothing complicated. Just a few promises we try to keep every single day.

  1. Bake it here

Everything on the counter comes out of our oven or a neighbour’s kitchen down the road.

  2. Keep it simple

A short menu done properly, changing with the seasons rather than the trends.

  3. Make room for everyone

Big tables, quiet corners, a step-free entrance and a water bowl by the door.

The café today

Pull up a chair.

Come for ten minutes or stay all morning. There’s a sunny bench out front, a long table for friends and a corner by the window that the regulars pretend isn’t theirs.
