Services

Websites built properly, priced clearly.

Bespoke websites for independent businesses, optional care after launch and a few clearly bounded extras. Final scope is always agreed in writing before any work begins.

How it works

From first conversation to launch, and beyond if you want.

You don’t need a technical brief. Each stage ends with something for you to look at and approve before the next one starts.

  1. Talk

A free, no-obligation introductory conversation of up to 30 minutes about your business, your customers and what the website needs to do.

  2. Proposal

A written proposal with the scope, price, timeline, feedback rounds and payment schedule, agreed before work begins.

  3. Design

A design direction and page layouts for you to comment on, refined together before anything is built.

  4. Build

Hand-built, mobile-first, fast and accessible, with a private preview link to review as it comes together.

  5. Launch

A careful launch on your domain, a walkthrough, and every account and file handed over in your name.

  6. Afterwards

Look after it yourself, choose an optional care plan, or ask for changes whenever you need them.

Good to know

Images, feedback and your content.

Imagery and artwork

Every package includes preparing your own photos and logo for the web, so they look sharp and load quickly. Where photos are missing, I can source properly licensed stock images and tell you about any licence costs first.

Bespoke illustration and 3D artwork are something I make myself. It can be included where it suits the project, and the amount is agreed in your proposal. Professional photography is arranged separately.

Feedback and revisions

You review the design before it’s built, then the working site before it launches. Your proposal states how many rounds of changes are included at each stage. Corrections to errors in my work against the agreed specification are never charged.

Changes beyond the agreed rounds, or new ideas mid-project, are fine. I’ll tell you if something affects the price or timeline before doing it.

Your words and content

You know your business best, so you usually provide the core information: what you offer, prices, opening hours and contact details. I help shape it so it reads well on screen and suits search engines.

If writing isn’t your thing, full copywriting can be quoted as an extra.

Optional monthly care

Looked after, or yours to manage.

A hand-built static site doesn’t need plugin updates or database patches. Care plans focus on what genuinely matters: hosting, certificates, uptime, backups and changes when you need them.

Building and looking after are separate

The website build is a one-off project with a price agreed before work starts. Care is an optional monthly service afterwards. You never have to take a care plan, and if you do, the terms for stopping it are agreed up front.

  • Look after it yourselfOnce the project is paid for, everything is yours. Hosting a site like this can cost very little, or nothing at all.
  • Ask when you need somethingWant a new page or a price change next year? Get in touch and I’ll quote for that piece of work.
  • Choose a care planMonitoring, backups and an allowance of small changes each month, so you don’t have to think about it.
Care plans are optional. You can always take full ownership and manage the site yourself.

Prices are in GBP and no VAT is charged. Care is optional and offered for websites I've built or agreed to support. Unused edit time does not carry forward. Support is during UK working days, not a 24-hour emergency service. Extra work is quoted separately.

Ownership & FAQ

Your website is yours.

Your domain and site are set up in your name wherever practical. If you ever move on, you take everything with you.

Your domain
Your address on the web, such as yourbusiness.co.uk. It’s registered in your name and renewed each year for a small fee paid to the registrar.
Your hosting
Where the website’s files live so people can visit them. Sites like mine run on modern hosting that is often free or very low-cost, in an account you own.
Your files
Once the project is paid in full, you own the agreed finished website design, content and bespoke code. I retain my reusable tools, licensed to you for ongoing use, and third-party assets remain subject to their licences. You receive a full copy of the website to maintain or move elsewhere.
How long does a website take?

It depends on the size of the site and how quickly content and feedback come together. Your proposal includes an estimated timeline and the dates where you’ll review the work.

How many revisions are included?

Your proposal sets out the rounds of changes at the design and build stages, so there are no surprises. Unlimited revisions aren’t offered because they rarely make a better site, but you’ll always know before anything costs extra.

Who provides the words and images?

Usually you provide the core content and I help shape it. I'll prepare the images you supply for the web. Any bespoke artwork allowance is described in your written proposal; copywriting-heavy projects and photography shoots are quoted separately.

Who owns the website and domain?

Your domain and hosting accounts are registered in your name wherever practical. The agreed finished site design, content and bespoke code become yours on payment in full, with a permanent licence to any reusable tools I supply and the relevant third-party asset licences. You receive a copy of your site to move elsewhere if you choose.

What about hosting?

Static sites are fast, secure and inexpensive to host. Any hosting cost is explained upfront, along with who pays it and whether a care plan covers it.

Can you add booking, ecommerce or a CMS?

Yes, as separately quoted work. These aren’t included in the starting packages because they add real complexity and ongoing responsibility.

Do I have to take a care plan?

No. Care plans are optional. Your agreed finished website becomes yours once paid for in full, and you can manage it yourself with a handover walkthrough.

How do payments work?

Your proposal sets out the payment schedule, including any deposit, before any work begins. There are no subscriptions unless you choose a care plan.

What about small changes outside a care plan?

Small additional tasks start at £50 an hour, billed in 30-minute units. I'll provide a written estimate before work expected to take more than two hours. Larger work is quoted by project.

What if I want changes after launch?

Just ask. Small changes are quoted individually, or included each month if you’re on a Managed or Growth care plan. Because you own the site, you’re also free to use anyone else.

What happens after launch?

You get a walkthrough and everything you need to own the site. From there you can manage it yourself, choose a care plan, or get in touch for changes when you need them.
