Privacy

Privacy notice.

What happens to the information you send me through this website, in plain English.

Who I am

This website belongs to Alex Goldsmith, an independent sole-trader web developer and designer based in Kent, UK. I am responsible for any personal information you send me through it. You can contact me about privacy at alexander.goldsmith@shieldwallgames.co.uk.

What I collect, and why

I only collect what you choose to send me when you get in touch: your name, how to reply to you, and anything you tell me about your business and project. I use it to reply to your enquiry and, if we work together, to prepare a proposal and run the project. The legal basis is that you have asked me to respond, which is a legitimate interest, and later the steps needed to enter into a contract with you.

I don’t use your details for marketing lists, I don’t sell or share them, and I don’t combine them with information from elsewhere.

How the contact form works

At the moment the contact form doesn’t send anything itself. It writes your enquiry into an email in your own email app, and you choose whether to send it. Nothing you type is stored by this website. Once sent, your email is handled by my email provider like any other email.

If I later switch on direct sending from the form, this notice will be updated before that happens. Your enquiry will then pass through Cloudflare, which hosts this website, to be emailed to me. It will not be stored by the website, and Cloudflare Turnstile will be used to filter out spam.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry emails for as long as they’re useful for replying and following up. If we don’t go on to work together, I delete them within twelve months. Project records are kept for as long as UK tax and accounting rules require.

Cookies, analytics and other services

This website doesn’t set cookies, doesn’t use advertising or tracking tools and doesn’t run analytics. Everything it needs, including its fonts, is served from this website itself, so visiting it doesn’t send your details to other companies. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.

The fictional concept websites never collect your details. Their reservation, enquiry and planning tools are demonstrations that don’t send or store anything.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information I hold about you, or ask me to correct or delete it, by emailing me. If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab).
